View of The Mouth of The Mersey

With the clouds glowing pink and the Liverpool historic waterfront buildings bathed in the last rays of sunlight of the early evening, I was amazed to see a flock of cormorants flying along the river.

Whilst gazing at this scene of light and colour, the touch of the cool wind and sound of the waves lapping against the dock walls, all helped to produce an lovely memory.

In my paintings in the 'VIEWS ALONG THE RIVER COLLECTION PART 1' , I've tried to capture my memories of these scenes to share with you.

The new collection of paintings to be available  on 24th August for my VIP email list, with it being open to others 24 hours later.

Views Along The River Collection Part 1

The waterfront and coastline of the River Mersey has been an important part of my life since childhood. From watching ships sailing up and down the river; day trips to beaches at Crosby, Formby, Freshfields and Southport; or taking ferry crossings to the Wirral for days out to New Brighton.

My new painting series 'VIEWS ALONG THE RIVER COLLECTION PART 1', reflects my interpretation of the surrounding Mersey scenery - so why not add a piece of the Mersey coastline to your home.

  3.  oglet shore

'The Oglet Shore, Looking Towards Liverpool' is one of my latest paintings, depicting scenes along the River Mersey, Liverpool.

On a glorious, sunny day I strolled down from Hale Village to the coastline to view the lighthouse.

This painting is based on a photo that I took on that lovely, hot, sunshine day with the haze from the sun distilling the distant view. It brings back memories of the sounds of the birdsong in the air, the smell of the grass and the movement of the river.

I used a variety of makes of oil paints to produce this piece of work, including Sennelier, Rembrandt, and Winsor & Newton. I applied the paint using knives and brushes on 6" x 9" Clairefontaine specialist paper for oils.

I used painting knives and brushes to apply and scrape into the paint, thereby creating different textures within the painting.

Won't be long now for the new collection of paintings to be available – so keep your eyes open for news about it!
